Our Order's new Commitment to the Scouting Program is a means of providing Catholic Youth Ministry.

Since 1910, the BSA has provided strong, value-based programs that strengthen character, develop good citizenship, and enhance both mental and physical fitness in youth‑ traits that prepare young people to make the best decisions for today and tomorrow.

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting created in 1934 supports Scouting as Catholic Youth Ministry.  They developed the religious emblems program as a faith development program.  the religious emblems are described below.
  RELIGIOUS AWARDS:

The Light of Christ emblem (grades 1-2) encourages Tiger Cubs and Wolf Cubs to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.

The Parvuli Dei emblem (grades 3-5) is designed to help Bear and Webelos Cub Scouts become more aware of God's presence in their daily lives.

The Ad Altare Dei emblem (grades 7-12) assists Boy Scouts of the Latin Rite to develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith communities.  The program is organized in steps based on the seven sacraments.

The Light of Life emblem (grades 7-12) aids Boy Scouts of the Eastern Catholic Churches in bringing about a deeper awareness of their share in faith-life.

The Pope Pius XII emblem (registered youth members in a least grade 9) is for both Venturers (male and female) and Boy Scouts.  The program deals with different life choices, occupations and ministries in the church as calls from God.

The Saint George Award is recognition given by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting through the local ordinary.  It is presented to those adults who have made a significant contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth involved in the Scouting program.
